Vector Aerospace, the MRO unit of Airbus Helicopters with facilities in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and North America, is showcasing a turbine-powered motorcycle at its booth (C11018) during the NBAA convention this week. The Marine Turbine Technologies (MTT) 420 RR (Race Ready) Turbine Superbike is powered by a Rolls-Royce M250-C20 turbine, for which Vector Aerospace is a factory-authorized maintenance, repair and overhaul center. The engine is used in aircraft as varied as the Bell 206 JetRanger and the Soloy Turbine Cessna 206/207.


The MTT 420 RR's predecessor, the Y2K Superbike, powered by a similar Rolls-Royce turbine, was recognized by Guinness as both the most expensive production motorcycle ever to go on sale and the most powerful. Thanks to its turbine powerplant, the MTT 420 RR is capable of 420 shp and 500 foot-pounds of torque, well in excess of the Y2K Superbike. The motorcycle is on display at Vector Aerospace's booth, courtesy of MTT founder and CEO Ted Macintyre.
