The Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) announced a new chapter of the association in the Philippines today during its inaugural AsBAA Manila Conference. This new chapter will help support members looking to operate in this part of the region, as well as engage government, local companies, educational institutions and the media regarding the business and general aviation industry, it said.

“AsBAA is now preparing to assist the Philippine government in developing rules and regulations that will enhance the business and general aviation industry, thereby creating jobs [for] highly skilled engineers and technicians while increasing investment into the Philippines and creating new business opportunities in the business and general aviation sector,” said AsBAA vice chairman David Dixon.

Among Philippine-specific issues AsBAA plans to address via the new chapter are: congested airports where business and general aviation share limited slots with the airlines; the need for dedicated FBOs and MROs at airports that serve mineral and tourism industries; and establishment of a “safe and efficient” business and general aviation airport in the larger Metro Manila area.

Max Motschmann, the CEO of International Jet Management Asia, was also appointed a member of AsBAA’s board of governors. He has been tasked with helping to establish the new Philippines chapter.
