Content Body

Coptersafety's new Airbus Helicopters H145 full flight helicopter simulator—built by Textron's TRU Simulation + Training and based at Coptersafety's new training center at Helsinki International Airport—has been granted EASA level-D certification. Installation of the new simulator began in July and took approximately three months.

Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance will be one of the first customers for the new simulator. The H145 simulator is the first of five level-D devices Coptersafety ordered from TRU last year. The deal also includes simulators for the Airbus H125 and Leonardo AW139, AW169 and AW189.

All will be EASA and FAA certified and feature TRU’s Odyssey H roll-on/roll-off platform whileemploying a 240- by 80-degree standard visual field of view and be reconfigurable to accommodate various types of mission training. They also will come equipped with Rockwell Collins EP-8100 image-generation systems and technologies previously used only in military helicopter applications, such as the new WholeEarth world model and laser-illuminated ultra-high-definition 4K projectors.

TRU has designed the Odyssey H specifically for rotorcraft training. It combines a wide-degree field of view, ultra-high visual resolution and an added secondary six-degree freedom of motion system.
