NBAA recently recognized the 400th aviation professional to achieve certification in the association’s Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program. Kevin Flynn, director of aviation maintenance for AbbVie in Waukegan, Illinois, became the 400th individual to earn CAM certification.

A U.S. Air Force veteran who repaired A-10 Warthogs, Flynn decided to pursue the CAM credential to expand his overall knowledge of flight department operations, NBAA said. “The knowledge I’ve gained throughout the exam process has been immediately beneficial in my job,” Flynn said. “Earning the certification was challenging, but incredibly rewarding. I’ve learned so much about the industry.”

NBAA launched the CAM program in 2003 to encourage professional development and increased knowledge base. “In a short period of time, the CAM program has become synonymous with rigorous standards of excellence and a commitment to continued competency,” said CAM governing board chairman T. James Buchanan. “Employers increasingly seek candidates with the CAM designation because of the high level of professionalism it signifies.”

The program, accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, provides a standard for preparation and achievement in aviation management.
