Sheltair yesterday held the grand opening of a new hangar as part of a $6.5 million development project that encompasses nearly eight acres at Florida's Tampa International Airport. In addition to 2.5 acres of new ramp, the long-awaited 32,000-sq-ft hangar, the FBO’s fifth, brings it to 172,000 sq ft of aircraft storage and office space on the airport’s southeast side. Able to accommodate the latest large business jets, it features fire protection with a high-expansion foam fire-suppression system.
“This newest hangar complex opening reflects the company’s recognition that it requires efficient state-of-art space for service-oriented professionals to do their job efficiently, effectively, and safely,” stated Sheltair COO Warren Kroppel. “We invest in both our people and infrastructure to maintain that level of performance every day and thereby help our clients expand their business.”
The new hangar, intended to meet rising demand at the airport, was initially discussed in 2015 when the location was the Tampa International Jet Center, but delayed due to the facility’s subsequent purchase by Sheltair nearly two years ago.
