FreeFlight Systems’s 1203C SBAS/GNSS sensor is now approved for installation with the Rockwell Collins TDR-94/94D transponder. Collins has received FAA approval of an approved model list STC (AML-STC) for ADS-B Out installation across a range of Part 23 Class 3 and 4 aircraft, with additional Part 25 certifications anticipated this year. FreeFlight maintains that the product pairing provides a cost-effective way to meet the upcoming ADS-B mandate in the U.S. and said that foreign validations are planned to support mandates in other regions.
According to FreeFlight, the 1203C can be integrated with other avionics and provides full ADS-Out compliance when paired with a compatible mode-S extended squitter transponder, such as the TDR-94/94D. Select part numbers of the latter can be upgraded via service bulletin or exchange to the latest ADS-B compliance status. Several hundred 1203Cs are in service in business aircraft to airliners. The sensor can also serve as the approved position source for select manufacturers of TAWS/FMS, RNP, and other NextGen equipment.
