Private jet charter marketplace Victor, in partnership with Air BP and its Target Neutral carbon emissions offset program, has officially launched an offset effort for operators and customers, following a trial phase that began late last year. The program is aimed at allowing the company and its participating aircraft operators to be among the vanguard in meeting industry deadlines regarding reduced environmental impact.
More than half of Victor’s and Air BP’s 20 largest operator customers have already signed on, the companies said. According to Victor, the number of charters booked through its platform for operators that have signed on to the carbon-offset scheme has increased by 46 percent year-over-year versus standard operator bookings.
“Victor continues to set an agenda for positive change across the private aviation industry,” said company co-founder and head of supply Mike Ryan. “This program…offers an instant opportunity for operators to advance their carbon-reduction plans ahead of several crucial industry deadlines, while further validating the role of private aviation to the customer as a driver for global economic, social, and cultural development.”
Private jet charter marketplace Victor, in partnership with Air BP (Booth B29) and the fuel provider's Target Neutral carbon emissions offset program, officially launched its offset effort for operators and customers last month, following a successful trial phase that began late last year.

Under ICAO’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), aircraft operators will need to purchase offsets for their growth as the international aviatipn body attempts to achieve carbon-neutral growth in the industry by 2020. It will begin with a voluntary period of offsets in 2021, which will become mandatory in 2027. Among its other goals are 2 percent improvements in fuel efficiency on average per year by 2020, and a 50 percent reductions in total emissions by 2050, relative to 2015 levels.
BP’s Target Neutral portfolio includes offset projects such as installation of hydropower plants in China and biogas initiatives in India. The projects, selected by an independent forum, are chosen based on their contribution to UN sustainable development goals.
“At Air BP, we are striving to help the world address the dual challenge of meeting its need for more energy, while at the same time reducing carbon emissions,” said Irene Lores, the UK-based company's sales and marketing director for general aviation. “By collaborating with Victor in this new offset program, we are also supporting our operator customer base in the transition to a lower-carbon future.”
