Gulfstream Aerospace is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Student Leadership Program that is designed to provide an overview to and help prepare students for career opportunities in aviation, science, technology, engineering, and math. Launched in 2008, the Gulfstream program is held in collaboration with more than 40 business and community partners nationwide.
The program covers work readiness, leadership skills, and educational opportunities, and includes tours of local business to help engage and foster interest among the students. It further offers college campus tours and a leadership and citizenship trip to Washington, D.C. Students are taught necessary skills to succeed in the workplace, including resume writing and successful presentation techniques.
“The Student Leadership Program is truly making a positive difference in the lives of tomorrow’s workforce,” said Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “What began as a small pilot program to serve the students of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System now enlists more than 40 partners nationwide who have invested in the futures of nearly 1,000 students. We hope this critical program will continue to expand.”
The program has grown beyond Savannah to Gulfstream’s locations in Brunswick, Georgia; Appleton, Wisconsin, and Dallas.
