Silverhawk Aviation has received FAA STC approvals for the Gogo Avance L3 system on the Cessna Citation XL/XLS/XLS+ and for the L3 and L5 systems on the Citation 560, Ultra, and Encore/Encore+. The new STCs are in addition to the company’s previous approvals for the L5 system on the Citation XL/XLS/XLS+.
Avance L3 and L5 in-cabin WiFi systems were designed specifically for business aircraft and operate on Gogo’s air-to-ground network. Being software-centric rather than hardware-centric means the systems, which offer enhanced connectivity applications, are flexible and scalable, according to Silverhawk. The L3 can be configured to one of three different levels, while the L5 is more robust for large-bandwidth activities such as video and audio streaming or handling emails with large attachments. Gogo’s WiFi equipment features a dual-band router that can operate on either the 2.4- or 5-gigahertz frequency for improved in-cabin performance.
Silverhawk's STCs include the installation of the L3 and L5 system components and activation. The Nebraska-based company expects to receive Transport Canada validation and part manufacturer approval on the belly antenna shim adapters shortly. Silverhawk is currently accepting slots at its Lincoln, Nebraska facility or customers can order the kit for installation at any authorized Gogo Business Aviation installer, it said.
