Reb Technologies (Rebtech) last month received an FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) to install its night vision lighting on a UH-60A helicopter operated by HeliStream. The California-based operator also has ordered the equipment for installation in its Bell 205. The work has begun at Rebtech’s facility in Bedford, Texas.

According to Rebtech president Richard Borkowski, its night vision lighting has become a popular option for the UH-60A. HeliStream is an existing customer for other modification projects using Rebtech lighting systems, for which it now holds more than 30 FAA STCs and also approvals from European regulator EASA. Rebtech (Booth B5315) has conducted equipment installations for customers in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia, as well as in South, Central, and North America.

“Working with Rebtech to equip our UH-60 with night vision modifications was an easy decision,” said HeliStream director of maintenance Golden Anderson. “We have used Rebtech in the past to modify two of our [Airbus AS350] AStars and have been extremely pleased with their expeditious work ethic and pride of workmanship.”

The company has also installed its NVIS night vision system on a Robinson R-44 helicopter operated by South Utah University. Under a STC modification, the company has now fitted the equipment to six of the single-engine rotorcraft for the school’s flight training academy in Cedar City, Utah.

On Monday, Texas-based Rebtech also reported that it has also installed the night vision goggle system on a Bell 206 L-4 helicopter operated by the same university. The company plans the installations to fit in around the flight academy fleet’s maintenance cycles.
