Charter operator Luxaviation has introduced an app to help customers plan trips while taking account of preferences to reduce the environmental impact of their flights. The platform launched this week gives passengers the option to make carbon offset payments and also to use sustainable aviation fuel for their flights, using the book and claim process where this is not available.

The Luxaviation app builds on the European group’s new online portal, which launched in September 2022. The company said it will also help customers to more seamlessly book empty-leg flights that would otherwise burn fuel with no passengers on board.

The app features a live chat function to give real-time access to advice and support from the Luxaviation team, even during flights. It also tracks every stage of a trip from the initial booking to a flight's arrival, as well as helping travelers to customize the service they receive and find information about their aircraft.

“We have developed this technology in-house so that it is totally customizable to react to the charter demands,” said Luxaviation chief information officer Pieter Steyn.

Luxaviation operates a large fleet of jets, turboprops, and helicopters with 15 national air operator certificates in countries worldwide.
