Content Body

StandardAero’s Richmond, British Columbia dynamic components MRO facility is celebrating 40 years of supporting Airbus helicopters. At the Canadian facility, StandardAero provides overhaul, repair, and testing of H125/AS350, AS355, and H130/EC130 dynamic components.

Capabilities at Richmond include cleaning/stripping; level II non-destructive testing such as magnetic particle and fluorescent penetrant inspection; in-house coordinate measurement and other inspection processes; coatings; a bonding clean room; and traditional and CNC machine tools. In addition to dynamic components, StandardAero offers repair and overhaul services for shock absorbers and tail rotor gearbox spiders.

StandardAero Richmond inspectors and machinists have undergone Airbus visual inspection and piece part repair training, which facilitates returning salvaged parts to service following Airbus-specified repairs. The Richmond facility is certified for more than a dozen Airbus special processes, according to StandardAero.

The rework capability is available for other dynamic repair shops that can’t repair parts on their own, according to Andy Wong, general manager of the Richmond site. “Our Richmond site also welcomes piece-part repair requests directly from customers, and our engineers work closely with the engineers at Airbus to make every attempt to repair rather than replace parts in order to keep operator costs low and reliability high.”
