Two aviation real estate developers have partnered on the start of a new $15 million hangar project at Colorado’s Yampa Valley Regional Airport (KHDN). While the airport—a hub for the Northern Colorado ski region and just 24 miles from world-class resort Steamboat Springs—has seen more than 75% growth in its private jet operations over the past five years, no new hangars have been added there in nearly two decades.
With the planning, design, and permitting process starting in 2023, the 57,680-sq-ft complex is slated for completion in the second half of 2025. It will be capable of sheltering ultra-long-range business jets. Business Aviation Group and Wiens Real Estate Ventures are developing the complex. The airport is served by Atlantic Aviation, the lone FBO on the field.
“We are very excited about the project, which is helping to meet a demand we couldn’t meet over the last 10 years,” stated Kevin Booth, KHDN’s director. “The area continues to grow, and this development will give owners the flexibility they are looking for and bring business opportunities to the airport.”
