FAI Aviation Group is making its Dubai Airshow debut, with the German aviation service provider celebrating 23 years of operations in the UAE.
FAI’s VIP charter and air ambulance missions in the region account for around 20% of the group’s total operations. “The Middle East is a very significant market for us, through our part-Bahrain ownership and the critical work we do 24/7,” explained FAI Group’s Dubai-based managing director Barbara Baumgartner. From Dubai, she estimates FAI can reach two-thirds of the world’s population within six to eight hours.
Typical missions include long-range air ambulance services alongside corporate and government flights. As well as charter, special missions, and medical work, customers can also access FAI’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul services at its headquarters at Albrecht Dürer International Airport in Nuremberg. FAI Technik managing director Michael Axtmann said the show presents a good opportunity to speak with “existing operators and potential new customers who need third-party maintenance or cabin retrofit work.”
FAI opened its Dubai office in 2012, which complements a subsidiary in Bahrain. In 2017, Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund made its first business aviation investment by acquiring a stake in Axtmann Aviation Holding, FAI Group’s parent company.
