As it looks to the future, Avfuel has announced several executive promotions and the formation of a new senior leadership team to collectively oversee its companywide operations.

After working his way through positions of increasing responsibility, C.R. Sincock—son of company owner, chairman, and CEO Craig Sincock—has been promoted to president as the Michigan-based fuel distributor solidifies its succession plan. A member of the executive team for nearly two decades, the younger Sincock has played an integral role in forming Avfuel’s strategies. He serves on many industry boards, including the NBAA Advisory Council, as well as at NATA, AIRCO, and Alder Renewables.

While he will oversee all aspects of the family-run company in his new role, his primary focus will be on areas such as business development and strategic partnership opportunities, merger and acquisition growth, supply and logistics, and sustainable fuel solutions.

“Avfuel may have been my career-defining opportunity, but it has always been part of C.R.’s life,” explained industry bulwark Craig Sincock, joking that with the promotion, he believes he will now be able slow down to a 45-hour workweek. “He grew up in this industry, learning from our customers, team members, and suppliers over the decades. That experience has put him in a prime position to lead the company forward as president.”

In addition, Joel Hirst, who has been with the Ann Arbor, Michigan firm for more than three decades, has been promoted from senior v-p of sales to executive v-p, overseeing critical business functions and operational effectiveness on a daily basis.

Marci Ammerman, most recently v-p of marketing, with nearly 40 years of Avfuel experience, was named senior v-p of marketing and strategic planning, while Jonathan Boyle, v-p of sales for the contract fuel group, was also tapped as leader for the bulk fuel sales group. He will work closely with the company’s FBO, airport, and operator customers to deliver reliable fueling solutions and long-term value throughout its global network.

Hirst, Ammerman, and Boyle will be joined by Mike Zultowski, senior v-p of finance and operations; Ron Cagle, v-p of credit; and Craig LaVigne, v-p of finance, to form the senior leadership team that will report to the Sincocks to support both Avfuel’s day-to-day operations and its long-range priorities.

“The appointments announced today have been months, if not years, in the making as we’ve gradually transitioned into new responsibilities,” stated C.R. Sincock. “By remaining a family-run business, we’re able to support long-term growth while maintaining the culture and decision-making flexibility of a privately-held operation. It better enables us to shape the company and the industry in the decades ahead.”
