West Star Aviation Expands CL300 NDT Inspection Capabilities

West Star Aviation is pleased to announce that we now have the required Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) standards, tooling, and trained personnel in place to perform Task 57-11-00-108 on the Bombardier Challenger 300 (CL300) aircraft.

This special detailed inspection — Rear Spar Lower Cap and Lower Aft Plank — is a structural inspection that requires eddy current NDT capability, along with extensive aircraft access and preparation. The newly implemented NDT standards are used to properly calibrate inspection equipment to ensure accurate, repeatable results in accordance with OEM requirements.

Inspection Overview

• Task: 57-11-00-108
• Threshold: 5,718 landings
• Repeat interval: 2,480 landings

This inspection involves the following maintenance activities to facilitate the required NDT:

• Aircraft defueling
• Aircraft jacking
• Removal of multiple panels, including fuel tank access panels
• Aileron removal
• Removal of inner wing over fastener sealant
• Main Landing Gear (MLG) support rib fastener removal

Planning and Downtime Considerations

Due to the scope and complexity of this inspection, preplanning is essential. Replacement fasteners must be available prior to induction to avoid delays. When properly planned, the expected downtime is approximately 10 to 12 working days.
