Duncan Aviation officially celebrated the dedication of its newly expanded Turbine Engine Overhaul Shop located at the company’s corporate headquarters in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The dedication event brought together state and local dignitaries, airport officials, construction partners, and team members. Also in attendance were Engine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) representatives from Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce, as well as many customers eager to glimpse the state-of-the-art engine facility.
This expansion represents a major long-term infrastructure investment positioning Duncan Aviation to meet the growing global demand for business aviation turbine engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.
Invited guests were given a firsthand look at the cutting-edge facility, advanced aviation technology, and streamlined workflows. The tour included a stop at Duncan Aviation’s Technical Education Center, which serves as the company’s workforce development center. Here, team members participate in hands-on, on-the-job training required to earn FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant certificates.
In total, nearly 200 people walked through the facility, witnessing active maintenance and speaking directly with skilled engine technicians about their work.

"This investment in our engine program ensures we will have the capacity to support our customers' needs for many years to come."
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure and Upgraded Footprint
The addition of the new 36,000-square-foot facility brings Duncan Aviation's total turbine engine footprint in Lincoln to 76,000 square feet. It introduces strategic investments in advanced machinery and infrastructure designed to improve efficiency, shorten turnaround times, and enhance safety.
Key Highlights:
- Twelve Dedicated Maintenance Bays: Configured to handle a high volume of engine work simultaneously, ensuring each project receives focused space and tooling.
- Expanded Backshops: Centrally located and upgraded with advanced tooling and machinery to optimize parts routing.
- New Test Cell & Control Room: Offering a quieter, more efficient, and state-of-the-art testing environment.
- New Parts Inventory Warehouse: Space was more than doubled, and inventory was relocated closer to the shop floor, optimized to streamline workflow and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Advanced Safety & Utility Infrastructure: Includes 16 one- and two-ton overhead cranes for precise handling of large engine components; an upgraded utility infrastructure featuring a larger evaporator drain pit for chemical recycling; and a 12,000-gallon fuel tank with a backup system to ensure continuous test cell operations.
- Modern Amenities: New offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, and locker rooms to support both customers and team members.
The expanded footprint is purposefully designed to streamline operations and minimize aircraft downtime. By completely reorganizing the layout, shared backshop capabilities, such as Nondestructive Testing, cleaning, flow and balance, paint, and media blasting, are now centrally located to support both Pratt & Whitney and Honeywell engine programs more efficiently.
Duncan Manufacturing Solutions
During the event, OEM representatives visited Duncan Aviation’s dedicated manufacturing division, DMS (Duncan Manufacturing Solutions). DMS has established a dedicated team of expert machinists to support the growing engine programs, performing service bulletins, complex in-house repairs, and parts support.
Investments in advanced grinding equipment, coordinate measuring machine technology, plasma thermal spray, balancing systems, and machining equipment improve quality while reducing turnaround times and repair costs. These capabilities can reduce customer repair costs by more than 50 percent on certain components.
Investing in Technical Expertise
Advanced facilities require equally advanced technicians. To prepare for the new engine programs, OEM factory instructors conducted intensive four-week training courses for technicians from Lincoln, Battle Creek, Michigan, and the company’s Rapid Response Teams.
Hands-on instruction included complete disassembly and reassembly of PW500-series engines, followed by factory training for the PW308A and PW308C models. These courses covered specialized tooling, turbine balancing, troubleshooting, and OEM best practices while allowing engineers and technicians to translate factory procedures directly into efficient shop workflows.
Training remains an ongoing priority. Additional factory-led instruction is scheduled for the PW306 engine in 2026, followed by training for the PW307 and PW305 in 2027, ensuring Duncan Aviation technicians remain current across the full range of authorized engines.
Customers with PW308A engines can also take advantage of the Duncan Aviation Service Program, or DASP, which provides predictable maintenance costs, transferable coverage, and access to rental engines and replacement parts during overhaul events.
While the DOF status centers on specialized engine maintenance, its benefits extend seamlessly across the organization, offering a true one-stop-shop experience. Customers who already bring their aircraft to Duncan Aviation can conveniently coordinate in-house engine overhauls simultaneously with airframe inspections, avionics upgrades, paint, interior refurbishment, or component repairs. Consolidating these events under one roof eliminates the need to manage multiple service providers, significantly minimizes total downtime, reduces shipping costs, and returns the aircraft to service fully updated and mission-ready.
