Content Body

For the past three months, three Rostvertol Mi-26T helicopters owned by Russia’s Ministry for Emergency Situations have been in Pakistan to support relief efforts following last year’s devastating earthquake.

The Mi-26Ts, which are capable of transporting 20-ton loads either internally or with an external sling, were used to distribute humanitarian cargo brought to Islamabad from various countries around the world coordinated by the International Organization Red Cross. The aircraft’s exceptional size and capability make it ideal to deliver food and emergency aid to the inhabitants of villages located as high as 3,000 meters in the mountains.

The aircraft have each flown over 150 missions and delivered more than 2,000 tons of relief cargo to the stricken region.
