Draken International has unveiled new branding for its UK-based subsidiary, which it acquired from Cobham in September 2020. The former Cobham Aviation Services is now operating as Draken Europe, the name being chosen to distinguish it from Draken’s U.S.-based operation.
“We are thrilled to formally announce our new brand,” said chief executive Paul Armstrong. “The new unified Draken identity reflects our global reach and breadth of experience, with our new ownership seeing us well-placed for the future. The combination of Draken US’s aggressor red-air expertise, and our broad aviation training, engineering, and special mission expertise gives us a uniquely strong position to grow the business globally.”
Draken Europe is an aviation service provider offering maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), helicopter training, and search and rescue services. Its most visible operation is the fleet of Dassault Falcon 20 business jets that have been modified to act as platforms for electronic warfare and naval gunnery training and other target facilities work on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence, U.S. Air Forces Europe, and NATO.
The company is based at Bournemouth-Hurn but has an MRO and operations center at Teesside International Airport, the former RAF Middleton St George near Darlington in northeast England. The facility there celebrated its first anniversary of Falcon 20 MRO work last November, having been present at the airport for 25 years.
