The U.S. government and Sikorsky have entered into a new, five-year contract for the delivery of 120 H-60M Black Hawk helicopters, with options for 135 more. These helicopters are destined for both the U.S. Army and foreign military sales customers, and the deal has a total value of between $2.3 and $4.4 billion. Deliveries will begin in July and continue through 2027.
“Decades of Black Hawk production and enhancements, strong program execution, and close partnership with the Army has kept the program thriving, and this contract is a testament to that success,” said Nathalie Previte, v-p of Sikorsky’s Army and Air Force programs. “Additionally, we continue to see strong international interest in the Black Hawk due to its versatility and proven record of providing unwavering support to the U.S. and nations around the globe.”
The Army currently operates a fleet of 2,100 Black Hawks and intends to keep flying them well into the 2050 time frame as they are eventually replaced with future vertical lift aircraft beginning in 2035. The latest order is the 10th multiple-year contract for Sikorsky and the U.S. government for H-60 helicopters. The Army has been flying the H-60 since 1979.
