Content Body

Israeli electronic systems specialist Nir-Or brought the next generation of its large area display (LAD) to the 2022 Farnborough Airshow with an eye on advanced combat aircraft applications such as the Lockheed Martin F-35. Engineers designed the 20- by 8-inch main flight display to enhance pilot situational awareness and command and control capabilities, said Nir-Or CEO Roy Riftin.

Incorporating full dual-redundant screens that control avionics and other flight and mission-specific operational functions, the LAD was designed for airborne applications with a dynamic viewing range covering full sunlight to night operations, including night vision goggle capability. With an illuminated-bezel keyboard, the display features multi-touch display functionality and the ability to show graphic symbology. The display also supports multiple video inputs.

Specializing in hardware and software integration with a focus on LCDs, Ni-Or (Stand 3521) also is showcasing some of its other advancements during the airshow including a LAD demonstrator for the Black Hawk, a glass cockpit program for ALH helicopters, and an AH-65 Apache gunner display upgraded for the Israeli Air Force.
