Based in San Diego, California, advanced training systems manufacturer Cubic Defense is showcasing a range of integrated training environment solutions at the Singapore Airshow. They provide advanced, realistic systems that allow multiple platforms to train together in multi-domain scenarios.
Cubic’s best-known family of systems is its P5 Combat Training System, a world leader in air combat maneuvering instrumentation. It records and analyzes positional, vector, and other data from multiple aircraft engaged in air combat exercises. The system is in use with 22 nations and has amassed more than a million flight hours.
A couple of updates have been introduced that maintain the P5’s relevance. A system security upgrade adds Type 1 encryption to ensure fourth- and fifth-generation fighter interoperability while protecting sensitive air defense tactics during deployed and live training exercises.
Another improvement is the Block 7 update. This adds the ability to transmit classified sensor and weapon data during live-virtual-constructive (LVC) training with computer-generated “players” and weapon systems added into the live combat scenario. A derived product, known as Secure LVC Advanced Training Environment (SLATE), is being offered with synthetic inject-to-live LVC capability that is independent of Link 16-based LVC systems.
Also highlighted is Cubic’s Simplified Planning Execution Analysis Reconstruction (SPEAR) software solution that provides real-time monitoring of exercises and post-mission debriefing. A range of LVC solutions for ground warfare scenarios is also being promoted.
