R-R Brings Boeing 787 and Trent XWB to Dubai Airshow

Rolls-Royce has powered the first flights of three aircraft over the last 12 months, the company announced. A Boeing 787-10, one of the aircraft powered by the Trent 1000 Ten, and a Trent XWB, which represents the engine reaching one million flying hours, are on display at the Dubai Airshow. The other two aircraft include the A350-1000 powered by the Trent XWB-97 and the A330neo powered by the Trent 7000.

“The Dubai Airshow comes at the end of a significant period for us where we’ve worked closely with both Airbus and Boeing to achieve three first flights,” said Eric Shulz, Rolls-Royce president for civil aerospace. “I’m very proud of the teams that have helped make this happen, and we look forward to each of them entering into service in due course. Achieving this goal underlines our position as a leading engine provider for new generation aircraft.”

With a fleet growing from 4,000 engines to 8,000 by 2020, Rolls-Royce expects to power half of all widebody aircraft in service in the next 10 years. The company continues to invest in service capabilities and manufacturing to take care of the engines.

Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce is also focusing on the Advance3 engine demonstrator as it prepares to run for the first time. The engine demonstrator will test core architecture for its future Advance and UltraFan designs.
