Content Body

FlightSafety International (Booth C4939) now has FAA-approved Part 142 night-vision goggles (NVG) training in simulators built by Airbus Helicopters, Bell Helicopters and Sikorsky at its Learning Centers in Dallas; Denver; Lafayette, Louisiana; and Stavanger, Norway.

The qualification was received after thorough evaluation and demonstration of the various simulators’ abilities to accurately represent NVG operations.

“This ongoing expansion and FAA qualification of our NVG training,” explained Steve Gross, FlightSafety’s senior v-p of sales, “demonstrates the advanced capabilities and flexibility of our Vital 1100 visual system and commitment to providing the highest quality training for this critically important technology.”

The initial training provides instruction on the equipment and the efficient and effective use of the goggles via scenario-based and mission-specific exercises. Eight hours of ground school and eight hours of training are included.

The recurrent course provides an extensive review of NVG operational techniques during all phases of flight. It includes limitations, aeromedical factors, normal, abnormal and emergency operations, night interpretations and more.
