Honeywell (Booth C1329) is seeing increased demand for its HTS900 turboshaft engine and is anticipating another six to eight to be operating by year-end on Eagle Copters’ Eagle 407HP, which replaces the Bell 407's factory-original Rolls-Royce 250 with the HTS900. Fifteen Eagle 407HPs are currently in service. On the Eagle 407HP, the retrofit boosts power output by 22 percent, payload by 500 pounds, and lowers fuel consumption by 17 percent, Honeywell said.
With more than 5,000 operational flight hours, the HTS900 is certified by the FAA and Transport Canada. EASA certification of the engine and the Eagle 407HP is expected later this year. According to Honeywell, the HTS900 is a workhorse designed for operators serving critical missions in demanding environments. A Fadec system helps to reduce pilot workload and allows crews to troubleshoot problems and schedule maintenance more effectively.
