Rosen Aviation has unveiled its latest aviation technology offering with the launch of a 4K Smart Map Box. The standalone peripheral device combines SmartTV functionality with FlightPath3D’s 4K Moving Map in a compact unit compatible with various aviation displays and in-flight entertainment systems.
According to the manufacturer, the 4K Smart Map Box is engineered to serve both retrofit and new completion markets, enabling operators to incorporate entertainment features increasingly expected by passengers.
The unit offers dual HDMI outputs, USB input, S/PDIF and analog audio outputs, Bluetooth audio capability, gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi connectivity, and one TB of internal storage. The device will carry Google Play Store Certification, allowing access to popular streaming applications, and Widevine Level 1 certification for secure digital rights management.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap between what’s available on an aircraft with what passengers have available at home, on their phones, and in their cars,” said Rosen senior v-p of strategy Lee Clark.
The Eugene, Oregon-headquartered company indicated that this release aligns with broader initiatives to enhance passenger experience beyond display resolution improvements. In providing an economical integration solution for aircraft across size categories, the technology is designed to enable operators to scale cabin systems to incorporate contemporary entertainment functions.
Rosen’s newest offering follows previous moving map product lines including LX, VX, and MX series.
