Austria-based cabin interior specialist F/List this week at AIX 2025 launched what it describes as the aviation industry’s first fully heat-release-compliant natural wood veneer for premium commercial aircraft cabins. The product is designed to meet regulatory requirements while offering an alternative to synthetic finishes commonly used in aircraft interiors.

“An increasing number of airlines are eyeing natural and bio-based materials to improve the passenger experience, stand out from competitors, and attract passengers who could opt to fly privately,” said Anita Gradwohl, group director of sales at F/List. “With our new heat-release-compliant wood veneer, airlines can now use natural wood instead of plastic, synthetic, or printed designs for more comfort and a calming environment.”

Managing director Michael Müller noted that feedback from design studios and airlines has been positive, adding, “Natural materials align with the interior design trends we’re seeing in premium commercial aircraft cabins.”

According to F/List, the veneer is part of its F/Lab portfolio and is engineered to comply with aerospace safety standards without increasing cabin weight. The company also highlights the veneer’s sensory qualities, including visual texture and natural scent, as well as the option to use region-specific wood types such as bamboo or silver birch.

This natural wood veneer is intended for use in premium airliner cabin spaces, including first-class and newer business-class suites.
