Highly specialized, regulation-focused aviation training is at the heart of a new strategic partnership between Affinity Flying Services and UK-based aviation training consultancy SMS Aero. The alliance will set the stage for a portfolio of tailored training offerings to bolster safety, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness.
Affinity, which manages and maintains a fleet of 42 aircraft to train civilian and military aviators in the UK, builds on its Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Military Aviation Authority (MAA) approvals in the tie-up with SMS Aero. The latter offers specialized knowledge in safety management systems (SMS), human factors in maintenance, airworthiness, and event investigation, and the company works with industry stakeholders from regulatory bodies to maintenance organizations globally.
“At SMS Aero, our mission is to ensure aviation professionals receive training that not only meets current regulations but also directly applies to their everyday operations,” said company founding partner Ian Chapman.
The new training programs are designed to be immersive and practical, incorporating real-world case studies, hands-on learning, and interactive techniques to address the complex needs of both civil and military aviation environments.
“By combining our expertise with SMS Aero’s specialized capabilities, we can ensure that aviation professionals receive the highest quality training,” said Affinity Flying Services managing director Iain Chalmers.
