Pete Bunce, former president and CEO of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, and Jack Pelton, chairman and CEO of the Experimental Aircraft Association, will be inducted into the International Air & Space Hall of Fame during ceremonies scheduled for November 8 at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
The recognition honors Bunce’s contributions to general aviation advocacy following a distinguished military career and Pelton’s leadership across multiple sectors of aviation. Both executives have shaped policy and industry development over decades of service.
Bunce’s aviation background includes 26 years of U.S. Air Force service, concluding as director of the service’s Congressional Budget and Appropriations Liaison in March 2005. During his military career, he piloted F-15 and A-10 aircraft while commanding multiple operational fighter units.
The retired Air Force officer has accumulated more than 7,500 flight hours across military fighter aircraft, training platforms, and civilian aircraft, including piston, turboprop, and business jet categories.
While at GAMA, the association expanded its international reach with an office added in Brussels, as well as its scope with new categories of members. He also played an instrumental role in countless pressing issues, from user fees to certification reforms. In 2015, he organized the Arsenal of Democracy World War II Victory Flyover over the U.S. Capitol Mall.
Pelton assumed the dual role of EAA chairman and CEO in November 2015, building on his initial election to the board chairmanship in October 2012. Under his leadership, the organization focuses on expanding aviation participation and encouraging flight training, aircraft construction, and broader engagement in aviation activities.
Before joining EAA, Pelton had served as chairman, president, and CEO of Cessna Aircraft Company for a decade. During his tenure at the Wichita-based manufacturer, he guided the company’s growth into a leading position in commercial and private aviation markets.
The November ceremony will also recognize the Goodyear Blimp’s centennial anniversary and Grumman’s “Flight of the Cats” fighter aircraft legacy as part of the 2025 class of inductees.
