Content Body
Airbus is promoting new members of its A330 airliner family at the 2019 Dubai Airshow. Both the -900 and -800 models feature new, more fuel efficient engines than the earlier types. In January, the A330-900 was given so-called ETOPs approval which means that the two-engined aircraft can now fly on longer, transoceanic routes with as much as 285 minutes flight diversion time in the event of one engine failing. The rule change allows operators, including TAP Air Portugal, to fly longer, more direct routes between continents. Meanwhile, the smaller A330-800 variant is now due to complete certification in 2020. Kuwait Airways has ordered eight of these.
