Description

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is proposing new and updated technical standard orders (ETSOs) for aircraft parts. Objectives of the notice of proposed amendments (NPA) are to incorporate the latest industry standards and harmonize ETSOs with the corresponding FAA TSOs. According to EASA, the proposed regulatory material is intended to offer more possibilities for EU applicants to obtain ETSO authorizations and to align ETSOs with the state of the art and with European operational requirements. The proposed amendments are “expected to ensure a level playing field for European manufacturers and increase the cost-effectiveness of compliance demonstrations.” Comments on the NPA are due by July 3, 2024.
