If a proposal made by the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) in late 2023 to increase the airport’s passenger cap starting on or about March 24, 2024, is not approved, general and business aviation flights will suffer the consequences. “The impact of the current passenger cap restraints will be on general aviation, business jets, and charters, especially during sports and special events,” according to DAA chief executive Kenny Jacobs. Specifically, he said "Scheduled commercial flights would have priority over charter flights," especially around major events. The NBAA , EBAA, and IBAC are leading efforts to prevent a ban on business and charter flights. Meanwhile, the DAA launched a 25 percent discount on airport charges for new, quieter, and cleaner aircraft but this incentive does not apply to general aviation aircraft.
