Description

This final rule amends FAA airworthiness regulations applicable to cabin pressurization systems and oxygen dispensing equipment on FAR Part 25 transport category airplanes to facilitate certification of those airplanes, systems, and equipment for operation at high-elevation airports—sites at or above 8,000 feet msl. Current regulations require that the cabin pressure altitude on transport airplanes remain at or below 8,000 feet in normal operating conditions. To enable operations at high-elevation airports, applicants develop specialized design modifications under an equivalent level of safety (ELOS) finding. This rule eliminates the burden on the industry that results from project-specific ELOS requests and petitions for exemption. The rule goes into effect July 17, 2023.
