Description

The National Park Service (NPS) and the FAA completed the air tour management plan for Mount Rushmore National Memorial Park. The plan, scheduled to go into effect May 24, 2024, will prohibit commercial air tours within the plan’s boundary—namely, over the park and within one-half mile of the boundary of the park. Officials said the plan was developed in “cooperation with stakeholders representing a variety of interests, including Tribal Nations, other land management agencies, the public, and recreation groups.” Mount Rushmore is one of several parks in the National Park System for which the NPS and the FAA are developing air tour management plans.
