Description
The comment period has been extended 60 days, to April 5, 2024, for the December 2023 notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would require certain FAA Part 145-certified repair stations located outside the territory of the U.S. to implement an agency-approved employee drug and alcohol testing program. The program would apply to technicians who perform safety-sensitive maintenance functions on certain Part 121 and 135 aircraft. The FAA received a request from 15 organizations to extend the comment period beyond the original Feb. 5, 2023 deadline, citing the holiday season and the complexity and international ramifications of the NPRM as the reasons for the extension.
