Chinese eVTOL aircraft developer EHang is expanding the use of drone technologies for digital fireworks in Europe under a distribution collaboration with event tech company Concept Solutions. Branded, DronePixel by EHang, the aerial media solutions, and services venture will offer aerial light shows to event organizers across Europe.
EHang was among the first companies to launch an aerial media services company in China and said the use of drone technologies for digital fireworks is now widespread in Asia. EHang, which has performed hundreds of shows, in 2018 was entered in the Guinness World Records for the most unmanned aerial vehicles airborne simultaneously in a light show. The record show involved more than 1,300 drones.
In a November 10 statement, EHang referred to the aircraft used in its shows as autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs). That's the same term it uses to describe its larger passenger-carrying eVTOLs, which are designated the 116 AAV and 216 AAV. However, the equipment used in the light shows appears to be much smaller.
However, EHang noted that the technologies are lesser used outside the Asian region. The partnership with Concept Solutions will enable EHang to rapidly expand into the European market, it said. The sales website went live today and is being advertised through various channels.

The drone-driven light shows are a more sustainable approach than classic fireworks in that they can be used repeatedly without causing carbon dioxide emissions, EHang said.
