Vertical Aerospace has appointed Andrew Macmillan, a former senior manager from London Heathrow Airport, as its director of infrastructure to support its efforts to bring its four-passenger eVTOL aircraft into commercial service. In a September 13 announcement, the UK company also said that it has recruited Arnd Mueller, who was formerly with rival advanced air mobility start-up Lilium, to be its chief marketing officer.

Macmillan was with Heathrow for 12 years, most recently as the UK hub airport’s chief strategy officer. He was responsible for strategy, master planning, forecasting, and regulation, including long-term business and investment plans and negotiations with the UK Civil Aviation Authority and airlines.

Mueller was with Lilium for just over three years through the end of April, when he was the German company’s vice president of marketing and communication. He has previously held senior marketing roles with brands such as luxury fashion house Esprit and Walt Disney Company.

“As we enter the next phase of our growth, we continue to attract the very best global talent to our business,” commented Vertical Aerospace founder and CEO Stephen Fitzpatrick. “Having spent the past five years building the best engineering capability in our industry, we are now focused on bringing in world-class operational talent who will help us deliver on our strategy.”
