Drone maintenance group Robotic Skies is teaming up with Continuum Applied Technology to create maintenance technology solutions for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) and advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft. The partners say they aim to support drone and eVTOL aircraft operations of these new aircraft using Continuum's Corridor aviation maintenance and regulatory requirements management platform.
Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Robotic Skies already offers a global network of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) centers for UAS operators. The network consists of more than 240 independently owned and certified repair stations located in more than 50 countries.
Continuum Applied Technology, which is based in Austin, Texas, provides its Corridor aviation software to a variety of customers ranging from single-location service centers to global enterprise-level repair station networks and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). In an August 2 announcement, Continuum said that Corridor will allow Robotic Skies to more efficiently manage maintenance activities and track aircraft compliance.
“Thousands of OEM-authorized service centers will be needed to serve the emerging commercial drone and advanced air mobility markets, and most will not be located at airports where aircraft are maintained today,” said Mike Greig, executive vice president of Continuum Applied Technology. “Supported by the Corridor mobile suite of aviation maintenance solutions, the Robotic Skies business model will enable their current network of over 240 independent repair stations to better ensure the safety and continued airworthiness of the UAS/AAM aircraft they support.”
Robotic Skies did not disclose the customers with whom the company has already made arrangements to provide its services. However, the company's founder and CEO Brad Hayden told FutureFlight that “there is a growing level of interest among the AAM OEMs to develop their future infrastructure requirements and key partners."
“This market understands that they will require an entire ecosystem to operate and are trying to get ahead of the curve establishing their partners,” Hayden added.
