Augusta Regional Airport in Georgia has become the latest location for the electric recharging stations Beta Technologies has developed for eVTOL aircraft, such as its Alia 250 model. The manufacturer unveiled the new facility, which is the first of its type in the Southeast U.S., on March 22 in partnership with Georgia Power.

Four charging stations have been installed in Augusta, one inside the airfield fence and three in the short-term and general aviation parking lots. The airside charging station supports fast charging up to 350 kW and is compatible with multiple eVTOL aircraft designs, while the dual-port units in the airport’s parking areas can also support electric ground vehicles.

Beta has now installed charging stations at 10 locations in the U.S. and has developed an app to help operators use these. The Vermont-based company has more than 50 other installations either going through the permitting process or under construction at other locations along the U.S. East Coast.

“We’ve seen nearly every mode of transportation go electric over the past decade, and aviation is next,” said Nate Ward, a Beta Technologies team member. “To support this shift to electrification, we need to make sure charging infrastructure is as reliable and accessible as possible. We are thrilled to have forward-looking partners like the Augusta Regional Airport and Georgia Power invest in this infrastructure that will support operations today and for generations to come.”
