Representatives from the Industries Federation System of Santa Carina State (FIESC), National Service of Industrial Learning (SENAI) and Santa Catarina state government are at the Sun ’n Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Fla., this week, seeking to entice aerospace companies into expanding in Brazil. Specifically, the officials are touting newly added economic incentives for aircraft and component manufacturers, aviation-related servicing companies and other precision industries to have a footprint in Santa Catarina. This is the delegation’s first time attending a major U.S. aviation trade show.

“We are excited to be at Sun ’n Fun this year and to be able to begin discussions with companies involved in aviation and other industries to promote the development of friendly relations, trade exchange, economic, technological and industrial cooperation,” said FIESC president Glauco José Corte. “While São José dos Campos–Embraer’s location–is considered the center of Brazilian aerospace manufacturing, Santa Catarina state is committed to providing both the economic incentives and skilled labor necessary to become our country’s new aviation hub.”

SENAI was created to meet skilled labor needs in the region and is being expanded to provide education and technical capabilities for “aircraft technical candidates.” Graduates will be qualified and experienced in the latest aircraft assembly, inspection and repair methods, according to SENAI.
