Content Body

Advanced metals specialist Alcoa recently signed a long-term contract with GE Aviation through which they will supply nickel-based superalloys, titanium and aluminum for a broad range of engines. The contract is valued at more than $1.5 billion and will generate work for several Alcoa factories across the U.S.

Alcoa chief executive Klaus Kleinfield commented, “We greatly appreciate GE’s continued confidence in Alcoa’s aerospace capabilities, and are proud to support its advanced jet engine programs through this agreement.”

In 2015 alone, Alcoa logged $9 billion in aerospace supply contracts. Most notably, in December the company signed a long-term $2.5 billion contract with Boeing through which they will supply ready-to-install titanium seat track assemblies for the 787 Dreamliner widebody, as well as for the new 737 Max and 777X. This contract draws on expertise in titanium machining and assembly capabilities that Alcoa added when it acquired RTI International Metals last year.
