Women in Aviation International (WAI) is accepting applications for its 2018 scholarship program that will encompass 103 individual awards valued at nearly $570,000. To be presented during WAI’s 29th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference from March 22 to 24, 2018, in Reno, Nevada, the scholarships will cover both flight training and education costs. The scholarships are awarded for nearly every aspect of the aviation and aerospace industry and are open to both women and men, unless the sponsor specifies that the scholarship is for women only.

This year’s program includes seven new scholarships that the association said reflect the diversity of the kinds of awards offered. These include a “late bloomers” scholarship for dispatchers and others for both the commercial and general aviation markets. The new scholarships are valued at $11,300.

WAI believes the scholarship total could continue to increase in upcoming months, noting that additional scholarships are typically added to the program in the months leading up to the show. More than $600,000 in scholarships are traditionally awarded each year.

Applicants for a WAI scholarship must be a WAI member as of Nov. 1, 2017. Applicants may apply for up to three scholarships, plus internships. The deadline for applications is November 13.
