ELT Group is increasing its presence in the UAE as it moves to localize activities and development projects. Formerly known as Elettronica, the company rolled out its new branding as the ELT Group at the Paris Airshow as it seeks to expand its electromagnetic spectrum capabilities from defense to other sectors, including cybersecurity, space, and biodefense.
In the UAE, the electronic defense systems specialist maintains a relationship in the region that dates back to the 1990s and a presence in the country since 2012. Last year, the company transformed its representative office into a local branch, ELT Group Abu Dhabi, marking a shift in ELT's strategy to more formally integrate in the region.
While at the Dubai Airshow, ELT is detailing its latest venture, managing electromagnetic spectrum operations from space. Under the Scorpio program, the company aims to monitor and protect against threats to and from space. Activity is underway with the deployment of its first electronic intelligence sensor into low-earth orbit this past April.
The Scorpio program will allow the company to offer observation and data collection capabilities, provide for electronic protection, and offer defense against cyber-attacks, the latter through its Cy4gate subsidiary.
