Combining the strengths of Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney and Raytheon, RTX connects and protects the world.
Content Body

RTX is at the forefront of aerospace and defense innovation, combining the strengths of Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney and Raytheon to connect and protect the world. With a heritage rich in era-defining technologies, RTX stands dedicated to meet the evolving needs of its customers worldwide.

The company has more than 185,000 employees and 170 manufacturing sites, and its integrated defense solutions are at the forefront in support of the United States and its allies, with nearly half of the world’s population currently protected by a Raytheon system.

RTX’s aerospace technologies are equally prominent in commercial air traffic. More than 70,000 aircraft today feature Collins Aerospace components, including avionics, advanced structures, mission systems and interiors. Pratt & Whitney has more than 12,000 large commercial engines in operation. Pratt & Whitney Canada, meanwhile, excels as a leader in the small-engine market with 63,000 engines in service.

Strategic Investments for Future Growth

RTX is investing in innovation by increasing capacity and advancing next-generation technologies for its customers. These investments span advanced materials, electrification, power and thermal management, and microelectronics.

RTX is also expanding its manufacturing capabilities. A notable example is the $115 million expansion of its Redstone Missile Integration Facility in Huntsville, Alabama, which will boost the production capacity for integrating and delivering several critical munitions programs

by 50%. In partnership with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, RTX is also building a manufacturing facility in East Camden, Arkansas, to produce the Tamir missile for the Iron Dome System and its U.S. variant, SkyHunter.

The CORE to Operational Efficiency

RTX’s commitment to meeting customer needs has also intensified efforts to improve operational efficiency. At the heart of these efforts is its CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) operating system. CORE unites employees at all levels to focus on process excellence, aligning the company’s financial and operational goals with continuous improvement initiatives. Since its launch in 2020, CORE has streamlined RTX facilities, improved strategic initiatives and simplified its supply chain with more than 80,000 employees trained and certified in CORE.

Examples of CORE abound. CORE’s success includes an 8% improvement in Collins’ on-time delivery in its nacelle business across seven factories. Raytheon has reduced the production of the AMRAAM guidance section hardware flow cycle time by 1.8 days by using cell design and line balancing. Overall, CORE has contributed to more than $2 billion in gross product and non-product savings.

Digital Infrastructure, Transformed

RTX is revolutionizing its digital infrastructure by integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation and connected equipment into its factories. The digitization of the product life cycle in more than 20 programs has improved efficiency and reduced the design cycle times by up to 30% for software-intensive programs.

Collins Aerospace factories are adopting a digital manufacturing execution system that replaces the traditional paper-based process and establishes the Manufacturing segment of the digital thread, connecting all points of the business and enabling Industry 4.0 transformation. At Pratt & Whitney, digital tools are eliminating the need for manual handoffs of data between engineering teams working on rigs for aircraft engines, resulting in reduced design, manufacturing and inspection time. Last year, RTX connected 20 factories to provide operators with real-time data for better resource management, with plans to connect an additional 20 factories by year-end.

The Power of Incremental Gains

Operational efficiency at RTX is not solely about applying advanced technology and leveraging artificial intelligence; it’s also about improving everyday business practices. By addressing front-end issues such as timely purchase order placements, scheduling and proactive supplier engagement, RTX is having a direct impact on how its customers feel about its products and how those products are delivered.

Looking Ahead

RTX’s leadership in aerospace and defense is fueled by technological breakthroughs and commitment to research, but true success lies in the relentless execution of daily tasks and responsibilities.

With our continued dedication, innovation, operational excellence and global partnerships, RTX is poised to shape the future of aerospace and defense, ensuring a safer, more connected world for all.
