Salient's Modular Approach Addresses Supply-chain Issues

Founded in 2022, Salient Motion is applying its software-driven design approach to actuation systems and control technologies. The company is demonstrating actuation systems for aircraft seating, cargo handling, and galley power supply at the Boeing exhibit at the Dubai Airshow.

Salient Motion reuses certified software and hardware across multiple actuation platforms. This cuts certification costs and lead times by up to 50% and also provides a more rapid path for integrating new technology by removing reliance on legacy suppliers. The company’s motion-control technology transforms flight-certified components into reusable modules.

One of the youngest companies to have parts installed in a commercial aircraft, Salient Motion is expanding at its Torrance, California assembly site and is working on its first FAA-certified actuation system for Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The company also has components flying in active military aircraft.
