Content Body

The FAA recently codified into Parts 91 and 93 flight restrictions that have been in effect “temporarily” (for 10 years) in the vicinity of Niagara Falls and clarified the requirements, which are intended to prevent unsafe congestion of sightseeing aircraft. Specifically, aircraft must remain above 3,500 feet msl over the falls and abide by the following procedures: fly a clockwise pattern; do not proceed north of the Rainbow Bridge; before joining the pattern, broadcast flight intentions, position and altitude on 122.05 MHz; use the Niagara Falls Airport altimeter setting; and do not exceed 130 kias.
