SpiceJet Inks Q400 Deal

Gurgaon, India-based SpiceJet placed a firm order last month for 15 Bombardier Q400 turboprops in a deal worth some $446 million, according to the Canadian manufacturer. The low-fare airline also took options on another 15 airplanes.
In an interview with AIN in November, SpiceJet CEO Neil Mills said he expected Bombardier to deliver the first airplane this June. SpiceJet stands to become the first operator of the Q400 in the subcontinent, where Bombardier rival ATR has already established a firm foothold with its turboprops.
