Eagle ATRs Replaced by Jets in Dallas

American Eagle last month confirmed plans to replace all of its ATR 72 turboprops operating from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport with Embraer ERJ 135s, 140s and 145s. As a result, 14 markets throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas gained all-jet service beginning January 31.

The transition relates to the bankruptcy of AMR and its American Airlines and American Eagle subsidiaries, both of which seek to cancel or renegotiate leases on some of their least profitable equipment.

Destinations served from Dallas/Fort Worth due to switch to all-jet service on January 31 included the Texas communities of College Station, Killeen, Longview, Lubbock, San Angelo, Waco, Wichita Falls, Texarkana and Tyler. Joplin, Mo., Lawton, Okla., Fort Smith, Ark., and Monroe and Shreveport, La., round out the list.
