Boeing and Turkish Airlines on Tuesday completed a firm order for forty 737 MAX 8s, ten 737 MAX 9s and twenty 737-800s, valued at $6.9 billion at list prices. The deal, originally announced as a commitment last month, includes options for another 25 MAX 8s and amounts to the largest Boeing order in Turkish Airlines’ history.

The announcement raises the total number of 737 MAXs on order to 1,285. Boeing carries an order backlog of more than 3,100 airplanes in the 737 family.

Turkish Airlines serves more than 220 cities in 99 countries around the world with a fleet of more than 200 Boeing and Airbus jets. Its orderbook now includes more than 100 Boeing 737s and 777ERs and more than 100 Airbus A320s and A330s. In March it placed a firm order with Airbus covering 53 Airbus A321neos, four A320neos and 25 A321s.

The airline plans to start taking delivery of the Airbus narrowbodies in 2015 and the Boeings a year later. Delivery schedules stretch into 2021.
