CAAi To Host Open-Access SMS Training Courses in UAE

On the heels of the success of UK CAA’s first open-access training courses in Dubai, CAA International (CAAi) will host a pair of Safety Management Systems (SMS) courses in the United Arab Emirates in January, the global consultancy has announced.

CAAi sees the need for organizations in the Middle East to understand that the ICAO SMS regulatory framework is critical. The UK CAA courses, delivered in collaboration with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, are intended to provide aviation professionals of all levels with a solid understanding of SMS in accordance with ICAO and EASA standards, including how to implement, maintain and mange an effective SMS, and how to evaluate the effectiveness of an existing SMS.

The first of the courses, “Basic Introduction to SMS” (January 11-13), explores safety management concepts and the skills required to develop, implement, manage and assess a basic SMS. The second, “Advanced Safety Management” (January 14-15), provides a clear understanding of performance-based oversight.
